Beauty as ends.
June 2025
This garden season has been dedicated to beauty. The desire to create a garden that is beautiful and filled with a variety of colors, textures, and scents that are pleasing to the human, animal, and insect friends among us. Wherever the eye lands, there should be interest, curiosity and pleasure. At home, in the garden.
Motivating this desire for beauty is gratitude, gratitude for the ability, knowledge, and means to create a space that serves the nutritional, spiritual, and communal needs of our family and friends. True beauty is not just something we chase outside of ourselves; it begins within and blossoms outward, shaping the spaces where we gather, grow, and find peace.
Have you noticed how gardeners return to the garden day after day? This is not out of urgency, but because it calls to them. It’s less about the labor and more about the longing. The garden offers stillness, beauty, and a quiet kind of peace, an invitation to tend both the earth and the self.
