How many times have you showed up for yourself this week?

We are responsible for the collective!

Do you follow us on Instagram?

It is interesting that the Black Girls With Green Thumbs origin story began online. Although social media is a powerhouse communication medium, we continue to find that the most impact lies in direct proximity. Meeting, educating, and being in person creates bonds, deepens learning, and inspires stewardship.

While we feel it is our duty to reach the people who look like us and live like us, it is the reciprocal responsibility of our community to show up. (And that assertion is not just limited to the programming we provide.)

How many times have you showed up for yourself this week? Showing up for yourself can be multifaceted. Here are some examples:

  • Choose food that actually energizes

  • Commit to a fitness routine that feels right

  • Withdraw from conversations that drain rather than inspire

  • Reclaim your right to REST

  • Free yourself, by feeding yourself.

Starting and caring for a garden at home or within your community creates a more sovereign, hyper-local food system. A garden will always be a point of integration, rather than a place for isolation - even if you garden alone.

But you don’t have to, join us tomorrow for the third week of Grow & Walk at the outdoor atrium of the West Oak Lane Library. We will teach and employ sustainable agriculture methods like: companion planting, sheet mulching, and hΓΌgelkultur.

Updates.
